On a quick trip down to Oregon to see my friend Denise, a fellow photographer, we decided to take a quick trip to Multnomah falls. Running around and taking our time settng up pictures, we are having a great time enjoying the weather! Its an awesome day to get out of the city and submerge youself into the wilderness.

I’ll post a couple of the pictures later on this evening so be sure to check them out!

Scultpures – Julie Berger

For a while now I have been photographing sculpture work for an Industrial Design teacher, Julie Berger. Going from home to home to capture furniture that she created, and then to random sites all over Seattle, we have been able to document a lot of the work she has created over the years.

It has been an interesting journey because some of the work that I have had the chance to photograph is several years old, each with its own story and inspiration. There are some pieces that were made for specific clients in mind, and another that was inspired by the events of 9/11. We are still photographing a ton of her work, which will end up going into her own personal portfolio.

Below is just a couple of images from the past couple of weeks of running around.

Ellensburg – return home

After meeting up with the class for a short demo on location lighting we decided to head to the town fair grounds to meet up with the local cowboys. It seemed like there was some sort of qualifier going on for solo calf roping. Ivan asked around to see if we could take a picture of someone mounted on their horse. Ashley and I pulled out the photo flex 7′ octabank and got it ready for Ivan. Since this was going to be such a quick shoot I decided to be Ivan’s personal light stand, but not until I raised the light stand arm up how much of a sail this light box was going to be. Hanging onto the stand for dear life Ivan grabbed a few shots of a local named Ty up on his horse.

After this Ivan and Ashley changed into some of the clothes provided by Evo and we found some park benches to take a couple pictures on. This happened pretty quickly so after we packed up and headed to the local End annual bike rally there in Ellensburg. Ashley was able to grab a couple pictures of the bikers who were hanging out at the scene. It seemed these guys were from all over the western states, and many who had traveled on the back roads that are beautiful to take in when its just you, the wind, and the sound of your motorcycle pushing forward.

We were all pretty well wiped out so we decided to take a short nap. Pulling down a side road a parking everyone slumped their heads up against the windows and passed out.

Well, its been incredibly cold, super windy, and now we are headed into what appears to be a gnarly storm. With so much gear in the back of the pickup we stopped by a fred meyer’s store and picked up a tarp to cover everything up. Strapped down and ready to go we started our journey back. Taylor Grant

Ellensburg – stopping for lunch

Grabbing a quick bite at Starbucks and getting our hands warm I decided to pull some of the picture off of my card and throw them onto the computer, and share a couple quick outtakes with you. Here’s a couple fruits of today’s labor.

Our first stop on our journey happened as the sun started to peak over the hill. Around mile post 98 we pulled off a random exit, threw the truck into 4-wheel-drive, and mobbed through some back country and grabbed a couple pictures ontop of the hill. Although it is incredibly cold this morning and not to mention windy, we managed to get a couple shots of Ivan and Ashley sporting some jackets and sweatshirts, paired with oakley and von zipper sunglasses.

Now onto Ellensburg, I’ll keep you posted!

I’m testing out this whole mobile blogging (definitely better than twitter) so I hope that this works as it is supposed to.

The story: leaving seattle at 3:30 am to try and catch the sunrise in Ellensburg, WA. Completely loaded up with gear and… Oh geez, I just realized I left all of the clothing for the shoot at home… Dang. Well I’m not off to a great start.

(Pause while I drive home to get the clothing)

Ok, so this clothing is provided by Evo at www.evogear.com. I’m planning on shooting some lifestyle fashion work as well as just some other random imagery that I may come across. With a full truck of equipment and 2 other photographers/models it should be a good day. I’ll keep you posted!

Once school starts here at AIS it seems that color charts, wheels, triangles, pantone colors, etc, etc, etc, are just thrown in every students face. This shot here is just playing around with 2 of the 3 main colors that is dealt with in photography, RGB. (Now I just need to find a blue shed next to these here…)
